Fate Series

The Fate series is one of the most famous modern Japanese fantasy anime franchises, created by Type-Moon. It began with the visual novel Fate/stay night and later expanded into many anime adaptations, movies, games, and spin-offs.

At its core, Fate is about the Holy Grail War, a secret conflict between seven Masters (mages) and seven Servants (summoned heroic spirits). Each Servant is based on a legendary figure from history, mythology, or literature, such as kings, warriors, heroes, and villains. The goal is to defeat all other pairs and obtain the Holy Grail — a powerful artifact said to grant any wish.

However, the series is not only about battles. It explores deeper themes:

  • What makes someone a true hero?
  • Is sacrificing yourself for an ideal always right?
  • Can humanity overcome fate?
  • The conflict between ideals and reality
